The Institute for Emerging Issues at NC State University invites applications for the 2010 GlaxoSmithKline Faculty Fellowships in Public Policy and Public Engagement. This program gives faculty the opportunity and resources to engage in public policy issues affecting North Carolina. Fellows remain at their home campuses for the duration of the Fellowship.

External Funding Opportunities
The National Science Foundation's Ethics Education in Science and Engineering program has a second deadline in its current program solicitation. That deadline is March 1, 2010. The limit is one lead-partner proposal per institution. The program focuses on improving ethics education for graduate students in all of the fields of science and engineering that NSF supports, especially in interdisciplinary or inter-institutional contexts, and will support improvements that may also benefit advanced undergraduate students.
Award: Up to $300,000. Collaborative proposals that disseminate best practices in graduate ethics education will be eligible for a maximum award of $400,000.
Duration: A maximum of 36 months

Notification of intent to apply: Due to carol_ashcraft@ncsu.edu by 5:00 p.m. October 29
Internal preproposals: Due to carol_ashcraft@ncsu.edu by 5:00 p.m., December 7
Estimated internal review completion date: December 11
NSF proposal deadline: March 1, 2010
