Awards

Freshman Awards

The college awards a limited number of scholarships to first-year students. There is no application form for these scholarships; application for admission to NC State in a CHASS curriculum by November 1 constitutes application.

  • Dean's Scholar Award (for incoming freshmen, any CHASS major)
  • J. Carlie Adams Scholarship (for incoming freshmen, any CHASS major)
  • Slater E. Newman Scholarship (for incoming freshmen with a Psychology major)

College Merit Scholarships

The college has a limited number of merit-based scholarships available to continuing students who have completed at least 12 letter-graded credit hours at NC State. The application process is announced and managed by the CHASS Dean’s Office in February of each year, with most recipients notified by mid-March. Merit applicants must be full-time students and have an NC State GPA of at least 3.5. Additional criteria may apply. Leadership, extracurricular involvement and volunteer activities are also considered. Applications are not made for a specific scholarship – selected recipients apply for a generic merit award and are then matched with one of the scholarships listed below.
