Spend a Day at CHASS

The Spend A Day program has concluded for the 2011-12 academic year.  It will resume in early September 2012.  For information on CHASS between May and August, please contact Dara Leeder, Director of Student Recruitment and Retention, at (919) 515-3638 or dara_leeder@ncsu.edu.

High school juniors, seniors, community college and transfer students are invited for a personalized visit to see the NC State campus and explore the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.  You will meet students, faculty and administrators, attend a class, and receive answers to your questions about NC State and CHASS.

Suggested Spend-A-Day Schedule*

  • 10:30 a.m. Arrive at NC State
  • 10:45 a.m. Meet with a member of the dean’s staff
  • 11:20 a.m. Attend a class
  • 12:30 p.m. Meet with a faculty advisor in your intended major
  • 1:00 p.m. Talk with a CHASS Student Ambassador
  • 1:30 p.m. Visit university offices (financial aid, university housing, campus bookstore)
  • 3:00 p.m. Take a walking tour of campus

* This is a suggested schedule of some things you might do during your visit. You can tailor your schedule to meet your particular interests and needs. Please note that due to staff schedules and class availability, actual times and activities will vary.

Requesting a date

You may request a date between Monday and Friday during the traditional academic year by completing the online registration form below.  Parents/guests are welcome to visit with you. In order for us to prepare for your visit, please register at least two weeks (14 calendar days) in advance of your requested date. If possible, please provide us with an alternate date.  We will do our best to accommodate your initial preference. 

Confirming your Registration:

Our primary method of communicating with you once you submit a request will be via e-mail, so please be sure to check your e-mail account for our response.

If you are unable to come for your scheduled visit, please notify us as soon as possible by e-mailing dara_leeder@ncsu.edu. We will contact you by phone and/or e-mail at least 3 business days before your visit to confirm your attendance. If you do not confirm your attendance at this time, your visit will be canceled.

Due to the number of visitation requests we receive, we regret that we cannot take requests by phone.
